Hello! I’m thrilled that you’re here, and I’m eager to share my passion for supporting you in your journey through parenthood.
The result of years of dedication, continuous learning, and a combination of knowledge, patience, and empathy.
As an experienced expert in the realm of Parenting and Baby Sleep, I've dedicated my career to assisting parents, like yourself, in navigating the intricacies of early childhood development, behaviour, and Baby Sleep. Through years of reading research, hands-on experience, and a profound understanding of child psychology, I've developed a comprehensive approach to fostering healthy sleep habits in infants and young children.
My approach to baby sleep is holistic, centred around attachment principles.
Even as a graduate Registered Nurse embarking on my nursing career, I found myself drawn to working with children and babies in the Paediatric Wards at esteemed hospitals such as Royal North Shore (Sydney), PCH Perth (then called PMH), and Fremantle Hospitals. There’s something truly special about caring for children—they're authentic, and witnessing their recovery and return to their happy, normal selves is incredibly rewarding. This experience fuelled my decision to pursue Midwifery training as a Postgraduate at Curtin University, Perth. Guiding mothers and parents through the journey of welcoming a new life into the world is awe-inspiring.
“with 19 years of experience as a maternal, child and family health nurse”
The postnatal period is a transformative phase, filled with love, joy, and its fair share of challenges, including sleep deprivation. Amidst these challenges, few are as universally daunting as ensuring your baby gets enough sleep. Recognising this need for support, I embarked on a journey to assist parents from the moment they left the hospital after the birth of their baby to navigating life. While parenting is instinctive to some extent, I firmly believe that continuous learning and staying abreast of current research and education can help us improve with each generation.
Transitioning into the role of a Maternal, Child and Family Health Nurse was a relief from shift work, but it also exposed me to the stark reality of how many parents struggle to establish consistent and restful sleep routines for their babies. This real struggle not only affects the baby's sleep patterns but also chips away at the parent's confidence and resilience. It's easy to fall into the trap of seeking quick fixes online, only to be bombarded with conflicting advice that exacerbates feelings of helplessness and anxiety.
With 19 years of experience as a practicing Maternal, Child and Family Health Nurse, including a transition to private practice in 2018, I've learned that expertise in Baby Sleep doesn't come overnight or from a brief 6 week course. It's the result of years of dedication, continuous learning, and a combination of knowledge, patience, and empathy. My approach to baby sleep is holistic, centred around attachment principles such as birth bonding, breastfeeding (if possible), baby wearing, co-sleeping and contact napping when you want. These as well as understanding your baby's cues, cries, body language, and behaviour is key to fostering healthy sleep habits.
